This 12-week program expands upon the foundations of experimental filmmaking to give participants the time and guidance to develop ambitious moving image projects.
Art of experimental moving images
Students will explore a wide range of approaches from video art and filmed performance to experimental animation, sound design, and documentary forms. Alongside practice, the course offers deeper engagement with the history and theory of experimental film and video, with focus on the key movements, figures, and concepts that continue to influence the field today.
Unlock the language of video art
By the end of this 12 week course, students will have completed a major individual project, gained experience in curatorial practice, and developed a substantial portfolio of experimental work ready to apply for open calls and film festivals.
About this course
This course is designed as an in-depth exploration of experimental moving image as an artistic practice. Over twelve weeks, you will develop and refine your own approach to video art, working through the full creative process from research and conceptual development to sound, filming, editing, and exhibition-ready works.
Rather than focusing solely on technique, the course places strong emphasis on experimentation, critical thinking, and personal expression.

You will be encouraged to question conventional filmmaking structures, explore alternative methods, and gradually shape a distinct artistic voice. Learning takes place through lectures, guided exercises, online workshops, group critique, and individual tuition, all within a supportive environment that values risk-taking, curiosity, and creative growth.
Course overview
This course is intended for artists and filmmakers who want to engage deeply with moving image as an artistic medium. It is ideal for those who already have some experience with video or film and are looking to expand their practice through experimentation, conceptual development, and critical exploration. The course also welcomes motivated beginners who are ready to commit to a longer creative process and develop their ideas over time within a supportive and exploratory learning environment.
