On the 23rd April 2024, the U Contemporary gallery at Winzavod Centre for Contemporary Arts hosted the first Moscow International Video Art Exhibition titled PRIVATE // PUBLIC.
This exhibition featured 20 artists from around the world with works ranging from 3D animation, documentary video essays, experimental short films and processed CCTV footage.
The PRIVATE // PUBLIC exhibition explored the connectivity and tension between the personal and the public. The purpose of the exhibition was to explore the dynamics of personal and public narratives through the certain examples of how each artist individually experiences and understands their own public and their own private. When can the private become more inclusive in the current societal structure and public become more tolerant? And most importantly, what is public for you and what is private?
This project was supported by the British Higher School or Art and Design and the Moscow School of Contemporary Art.
